Symmetry of a diamond is a measurement of how symmetrical is the overall appearance of the stone, the facet arrangement, shape and alignment of its facets. Both symmetry and cut are important factors that influence a diamond’s sparkle.

“Excellent” Grade - Defects or small flaws are hardly visible at 10x magnification.
Very Good Grade - Small symmetry flaws can be seen under 10x magnification.
Good Grade - Polish features are obvious under 10x magnification and may influence the visual appearance.
Fair Grade - Distinct symmetry defects can be discovered at 10x magnification and affect the visual appearance.
Poor Grade – Obvious symmetry defects can be seen with naked eye and affect the visual appearance.
Examples of Poor Symmetry:
